This course introduces students to the broad range of careers in police work and law enforcement. A wide range of procedures associated with law enforcement and public safety will be reviewed. Various hands-on activities will be experienced such as finger printing, handcuffing procedures, traffic stops, crime scene evidence collection, etc., along with many other law enforcement techniques. Students will acquire the skills and behaviors associated with law enforcement and public safety. Partnerships with our local law enforcement, courts, and police agencies will support interactions in many areas of the program.

This course will be a comprehensive course on learning how to become a public safety 9-1-1 dispatcher. The course will come alive when you learn how to follow the forensics of a call to the final disposition in the courtroom. Students will experience both live and computer aided simulation. During the process of learning how to dispatch, the students will experience the incoming dispatch calls and investigate the call from start to finish. These live dispatch experiences with crime scenes allow the student to interact and solve real-world situations. Upon successful completion the student will earn the NECI Basic 9-1-1 Dispatch Certification, which qualifies them to begin a career in dispatch immediately after high school.
